Leandro Di Lullo was his name and
most of his baskets appear to have been made from golden willow. Bob Magnus of Woodbridge
used to grow what he called "Italian tying willow" so perhaps he got
it from Mr Di Lollo?

The traditional 'rope'
borders are characteristic of Mr Di Lullo's baskets and were much less commonly
made by basketmakers of the English tradition like the Ballards. The three rod
border and variations of it are by far the most common in this tradition.

MAY have been married to Lorna Smith originally from Pipers River where my
Mum's family lived and where I spent my first 5 yrs. At least every time we
went past that basket making house in Prospect vale, Mum and Dad would mention
Lorna and may have stopped a few times. i'm not sure whether it was that house
or one next to it. Anyway, Lorna would have been an aunt? to Ross Smith from
the QVMAG. I keep meaning to ask Ross about Lorna and if she was married to the
basket-maker.
